Our Commitment

Canefields Community is committed to protecting your privacy and confidentiality.
We collect only the information needed to deliver our programs and supports, keep it secure, and use or share it only with your consent or where required by law to protect safety or meet legal obligations.
We comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld), and the Australian Privacy Principles.

Keeping Your Information Safe

All records are stored securely in locked files or password-protected electronic systems.
Access is restricted to authorised staff and volunteers who have signed a Confidentiality Agreement.
Records are destroyed or de-identified once no longer required.
Staff and volunteers receive regular training to ensure privacy and confidentiality are upheld at all times.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is one of Canefields’ core values.
Everyone working, volunteering, or training with us is bound by a strict Confidentiality Agreement.
No personal information about members, participants, or volunteers is shared outside authorised circumstances.
Breaches of confidentiality are taken seriously and may result in disciplinary action or termination of employment, placement, or membership.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you

  • Request corrections to inaccurate or outdated details

  • Withdraw consent for sharing your information (unless required by law)

  • Make a privacy or confidentiality complaint

All requests and complaints are handled promptly and respectfully.
